Jul 31, 2010 - @gooddarkjedi good point friend. i agreee wholheartedly.

SelfAware1 Says:

Jul 31, 2010 - @gooddarkjedi philosophy starts where science ends. they are two sides of the same coin. when there are questions that science cant answer yet then philosophers discuss them w reason, evidence, and thye use the scientific method w reasoning and argument acceptance. philosphy is very very important. not arguing with you just adding my two cents.

Aug 3, 2010 - @gooddarkjedi Good post but I feel that u are a bit stuck with primitive concepts. Take a child - time was we used to beat a child when he misbehaved, we don't do that now - now we realize that it is better to TEACH the child why his behaviour was wrong. The child learns, becomes a better person. Unfortunately with adults we still use the same old methods - show me an evil baby & i will show u a flying pig. We are play a part in how we shape our society.

Aug 3, 2010 - @gooddarkjedi As humans we do lack the ability to transform a person, but simply punishing a person solves nothing. A petty criminal goes to jail & comes out a hardened one. God is not interested in punishment - the goal is Moksha - Enlightenment or Knowledge with God as our Guru. No one is punished - they just further away from Moksha - lack of knowledge is its own punishment.

Aug 3, 2010 - @SelfAware1 sorry it's not philosophy but belief. Religions exist on pure belief alone - speculation if you will. There is no evidence beyond some old books.

SelfAware1 Says:

Aug 3, 2010 - @ramaraksha01 what is not philosophy? i dont follow, im sorry.

Aug 17, 2010 - @MarshalltheArtist I agree that he wasn't an atheist, but he was a supporter of what he termed "atheism in the name of God." Which basically means that one does not conceptualize or worship a concept or image of God, and that one does not cling to any religious dogma.

Heretic920 Says:

Aug 18, 2010 - I have nothing against religion but why do some religious people think athiestism has any spirtuality beliefs or think it's a religion? Are they thick headed or is it suppose to be a joke?

Jotto999 Says:

Aug 19, 2010 - Great wisdom. The Life & Music part is very deep. It always makes me think about my own life, and how using a journey or a race as an analogy for life is a terribly inaccurate analogy. If you think of your life like that...you will chase something imaginary and experience that terrible let down.I can't say much about this video, all I can do is think about it, really. It's huge, it's impacting, it's insightful.

Aug 19, 2010 - Simply put, amazing. Such wisdom. The end completely blew my mind.

swarrior80 Says:

Aug 19, 2010 - Appling section was jus brilliant i never thought of it like that

swarrior80 Says:

Aug 19, 2010 - @Heretic920 why do you think athiests dont have any spirtual beliefs?

Heretic920 Says:

Aug 19, 2010 - @swarrior80 Atheists have no traditions which all religions have. Yes, you can say that there family traditions or that some celebrate christmas but this is an individual/ small number of people not entire group of athiests. Atheists don't believe in any kind supernatural figures out there, or systems.

Aug 26, 2010 - I suppose I project a prickly exterior but am fairly gooey on the inside :)

IpsaPaphum Says:

Aug 26, 2010 - Re 5:32-5:44 But as Ramana Maharshi used to point out, people don't point at their own heads when they say 'I' but at their breast.

IpsaPaphum Says:

Aug 26, 2010 - @Jotto999 E.M. Forster wrote a brilliant allegorical short story "The other side of the hedge". You will probably enjoy it, if you enjoyed Watts' music-endplay analogy.

midplanewanderer Says:

Aug 29, 2010 - I guess I'm something of a "gooey prickle," leaning towards the "goo" end of the spectrum. But in the mornings, I am a total prick.
